Another Rick! Another Lefty!! A Vintage 4001!!! Blonde!!!!
It took us 6 years to be able to offer this bass for sale. And, here she is.
This is the earliest lefty 4001 in factory original MapleGlo we know to exist, and the only one with the original style one piece neck-through body construction, checkered binding, and full width crushed inlay.
Scott's been searching for Rick basses from this era for 30 years, and if it weren't our job to sell these amazing instruments it'd be quietly aging in his closet instead of appearing here where you can gaze at it's beauty and make it your own.

This bass has the combination of single piece maple neck-through
design and intermediate length headstock seen on 1969 through early
1972 4001 models.
Internal routing, body shape, fingerboard, and the amazing
flat/wide neck dimensions strongly suggest the bass was from a
small lefty run produced in 1969. These instruments shipped over a
period of a few years, as left handed orders were placed. The
latest serial number we've seen on one of these was from
1974.
It is a stereo Rick-o-Sound model, although inspection of the
routing makes it clear that it was drilled for the second jack some
time after initial construction and before paint finishing. This
helps date the instrument closer to 1969 as well, before all 4001
models were Rick-o-Sound equipped, as they were by 1970.

The serial number and Grover tuners date its final assembly and
shipment to April 1971.
All of this is consistent with other incomplete vintage instruments
we catalogued in the factory in the late 1980s, as well as
completed instruments we've seen in the wild over the years.
The bass has a grand total of 2 hours playing time on a restoration
quality re-fret. The typical issues with the dual rods were also
addressed, leaving a perfectly aligned neck that can be properly
adjusted without the usual swearing and grumbling... We defy anyone
to find a better feeling neck on any 4001. It sounds and plays
great. There is some wear to the finish and chrome hardware, but
nothing more than cosmetic.
Correct era black case with purple lining. It appears to be a
converted right handed case, although the impressions in the lining
don't suggest it's ever had a right handed bass in it.

In keeping with our recent Rickenbacker theme...
1968 Rickenbacker Transonic model 202 Amplifier Cabinet.

Here we have a very rare model 202 Transonic cabinet with two 15" Altecs and two horns.
This was from the collection of unsold stock we acquired from Rickenbacker in 1989. This particular cabinet has been in climate controlled storage its entire life. First at the RIC factory, and then with us. (No, it isn't currently being stored in a back garden...)
The serial number on this cabinet is one digit before the four of this model that were used by Led Zeppelin on their 1969 tour. As it narrowly avoided that fate it is still in near new condition, complete with the original tilt adjusting dolly.
If you are interested in this for your collection, send us an email.

There have been no modifications or alterations to this guitar. We are offering it for sale for an old friend (well, 6 months older than me) who would rather see it go to a good home than sit neglected in his closet. I had no problem recommending this instrument to one of my best friends, and have no reservations offering it for sale on his behalf.
Included are the original trem arm, bridge cover, strap, 'hang tag' owner's manual, and case keys.
The guitar was purchased new in 1963 in Canada, and as a result has a non-standard Canadian case. I have seen others come out of Canada with these cases, and this is the case that was purchased new with the guitar.
In light of the current market's rapidly changing prices, I am not listing a price. If this is the guitar you are looking for, drop me an email and we'll try to make it happen.
